LSS Knap-In – 9th May 2026

The Lithic Studies Society will be holding its very first Knap-In on Saturday 9th May 2026 in the beautiful grounds of Chester House Estate, Irchester, Northamptonshire.
The event is aimed at intermediate and experienced knappers, and is an opportunity to gather and exchange insights, techniques and materials. There will be no instruction provided, but members of the LSS committee will be on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly, and will be happy to chat about the archaeological assemblages and artefacts they work with.
Participants need to bring their own knapping kit. We will have some safety goggles and gloves available but encourage all participants to bring their own if they can as every participant will be required to wear them. We will have a little Norfolk flint on hand for the day, but please bring any of your own material you might like to work on!
The event is open to all knappers with prior experience, whether you are a member of the Lithic Studies Society or not. Numbers are limited to 15, on a first come first served basis.
