Deputy Editor: Lauren Lien

Lauren Lien is a PhD student in Archaeology at the University of Liège, Belgium. Her research centers on lithic use-wear and residue analysis, with particular emphasis on identifying and interpreting adhesives and other residues using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to investigate stone tool function from the Middle Paleolithic/Middle Stone Age through the Mesolithic/Late Stone Age across Europe and Africa. She is especially interested in combining experimental and scientific approaches to improve interpretations of stone tool use, hafting strategies, and degradation processes. Lauren holds a Master’s degree from University College London, where she examined use-wear and residue traces on Magdalenian bladelets from Spain. She also has several years of experience working on archaeological and heritage projects in the Mojave Desert (USA).
