I am a freelance archaeologist specialising in the Palaeolithic archaeology. After my undergraduate and masters degrees, I completed a DPhil in Archaeology at University of Oxford. During the final year of my doctoral studies I began working as a heritage researcher in the commercial sector for Allen Archaeology Ltd. In December 2016, I felt it was time to branch out and set up my own company Hogue Archaeological Services. I continue to be actively involved in academic research. My primary research interests lie in the origins and development of use of fire during the Lower Palaeolithic in northern Europe. I am currently undertaking a preliminary experimental study looking at identifying controlled fire-use in the archaeological record for ‘Pathways to Ancient Britain’ project, funded by the Calleva Foundation.
